This year the Archimede Project has added to the already numerous activities a new one, which has involved about ten courageous students from different classes of our school. We're talking about the "Math's Olympic Games", that will take place early next year and that consist in the solution of problems about logics, geometry, probability etc... With the possibility for the partecipants of working in groups, cooperating and making the most of the abilities of everyone and their knowledges. The ones who have decided to partecipate and accepted the challenge have started training in the resolution of problems using material from the previous editions of the Games and, in the meantime, trying to elaborate a strategy to assign every single member of the team the type of exercise that is more adequate to his own ability or the class attended. Even if it's the year we attend these Games, we are all very determined to win and to get our school known in the area of scientific competitions. So... support us!
But in the end, how did it go?
On the 6th March 2015, at 3:00 PM, in the Aula Magna of the University of Udine, for the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the Udine's Section of Mathesis, took place the 12th edition of the "Gara di Matematica a squadre", that involved the districts of Udine, Pordenone, Belluno, Treviso, Vicenza, Verona and Venezia. .
33 teams patecipated, including the one from our school, formed by eight Archimede's students. Under the guide of Mr. Zampieri and Mrs. Fabbro, on the day of the competition they went to Udine, ready to live this new experience. .
The competition took place in the afternoon and, for two long hours, the guys committed in the resolution of logical, geometrical and algebrical problems, trying to use their knowledges at their best, cooperating and helping each other to solve the major number of requests in the shorter time possible. .
Our team ended in the 24th position, but the "mathematicians" came back home happy for the experience and willing to train harder to attend the next editions and obtain better results.
